I've spent hours reading thousands of words on this subject. Has it made a difference to the environment? Sadly not - that requires action. But one thing I can do is help you to cut to the chase and put my research to good use. Go straight to my top 10 ways to stop global warming article.

Want more than 10 ways? How about 370 ways to stop global warming! Make sure you also signup for my 'How to Stop Global Warming' ezine which delivers bite-size chunks of useful info that you can actually use.

Understand the problem first

To achieve global warming solutions you first need to understand the problem. If you're not sure what global warming is, it's causes and effects and the debate surrounding the issue then check out these other sections of the site.

Make your home electricity greenhouse-friendly now

Switch over to Green Power, change your light globes to energy saving compact fluorescent globes, and reduce the amount of power that gets wasted. Specific information for Green Power in Australia is available and other country specific info will be coming soon.

If you'd like to make a real difference with minimal effort and are prepared to pay someone else to do it for you (sounds good to me!) then your best bet is to offset your carbon through tree planting or renewable energy projects.

Reduce waste going to landfill

Food scraps, garden waste and plant-based products like paper create methane when they breakdown without oxygen (anaerobic). Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas which can be reduced by diverting waste from going to landill. Ther a two effective ways of doing this: Reduce, Reuse or Recycle everything possible and Compost all of you organic household waste.

Save & Plant Trees

When trees are growing they photosynthesise and draw CO2 from the atmosphere releasing oxygen in it's place - that's a good thing! Saving existing forests from logging doesn't require you to chain youself to a tree trunk, just be a little more careful in how much paper you use and how you use it - Refuse, Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. Save paper and you'll save trees.

Plant trees yourself or get someone else to do it for you. There are many organisations involved in tree planting projects that will plant some for you for a fee. This helps offset the carbon that you and your lifestyle produce.

Barriers and Heat
We're starting to staple a radiant barrier on the rafters inside our attic. When we get the whole attic covered, it should block 97% of the heat out during summer and keep 97% of the heat in during winter as long as our windows are adequately protected to it doesn't allow a lot of heat transfer.

I think that stopping global warming is the best thing everyone can do. I mean the polar bears the sea otters and so many other animals are dying and our earth. One day it wont be here if we don't do anything about this. We have to save the earth.

I know this is unpopular for many people but the main change I've made in my life to help with global warming is to not buy a car and instead take public transport. It is hard and many days I waste a lot of time on the road, but I believe without sacrifice no true benefit can be gained in life. Thanks! A.

YES.
I agree that everyone can do something small each day to stop the increasing risks of global warming. Just look up ways of how & enforce them into your everyday life. Start a local group in your community or school to raise awareness. The more people who take part in this epidemic to stop global warming, the better.
