What is gray water?

Gray water recycling is a good way to reuse dishwater, laundry, shower and bath water again and again. It has been used for thousands of years in places like Jordan and Iran, where rainwater and household water is collected for irrigation and household uses to conserve the local water supply.

In modern times, places like Australia and Arizona, encourage the use of gray water recycling because the water supply is low due to the hot climate.

How can gray water help stop climate changes?

Gray water recycling is great for helping to stop climate change because it protects the soil and water from unnecessary contaminants. Water from showering/ dishwashing/ laundry washing can be filtered and then be reused. This helps preserve trees or the lungs of the planet, maintaining a balance for all living creatures. Alternatively, biological life ceases to exist, leading to an ice age.

Other benefits include:

Getting started:

Homeowners can start their own gray water system by setting up 6 (32 gallon) tanks to contain the water. These will accommodate:

Gray water from Shower/bath/dishwashing/laundry water is redirected via pipes away from the sewer system into the tanks. Pipes lead from these tanks and the rainwater tank to a filtration tank, which uses a combination of carbon and bracken fern filters. Then the clean water can be repiped back into the home's main water system for reuse through both the existing hot water tank and a separate pipe for cold water supply (inside and outside).

The filtration tank does not have to be an expensive endeavor, but can be constructed by anyone. The carbon or microporous and bracken fern (currently being used in France and Japan) filters should be placed at the entrances of the pipes from the home, to the tank, and from the tank. The tank should have a pane of glass on the top, which is designed to fit as a fairly tight lid on top of the tank.

This type of filtration combines three levels of Microporous and bracken fern filtering, as well as UV or ultraviolet filtration. This super filtration system can deal with such toxins and dangerous products such as regular chemicals, toxins, plus protect against microorganisms, bacteria, cholera, viruses, dysentery, polio, typhoid, tuberculosis, arsenic and encephalitis.

This not only protects against further climatic damage, but also protects people against disease and reduces the strain on the public water supply.

Into the future:

Gray water recycling is nothing new, but it is now becoming the way of the future. With the increased need to protect the planet from the destructive toxins that mankind produces through everyday living, newer houses with their own system will one day become the norm. However, until then, with only a few test cases being used worldwide, it is important for everyone to use this system to save our planet.
